Internet leased line: Connecting World

An Internet leased line is a premium Internet connectivity product, normally delivered over fiber, which provides uncontended, symmetrical bandwidth with full duplex traffic. It is also known as an Ethernet leased line, dedicated line, data circuit or private line.

A leased line is a private connection between two or more locations. Also known as a private circuit or data line. This connection can be used for internet access, business data exchange, video and voice calls and any other form of telecommunication. The term ‘dedicated internet’ is often used when talking about leased lines, put simply the amount of bandwidth you pay for is reserved solely for your use so there are no changes in speed or availability at times of high demand. The leased line is always active and available for a fixed monthly fee.

How internet leased line works:

A fibre optic leased line works by sending pulses of light down a pure fibre optic cable, and the data that is being transmitted travels at the speed of light. A leased line is ‘uncontended’, which means that the line is dedicated slowly to you and no one else can access it.

How internet leased line is different from broadband:

Dedicated

A leased line is a dedicated data connection that operates on a fixed bandwidth. The decision as to whether or not they get a dedicated line comes down to how critical it is that they have a reliable, high-performance connection to the Internet.

Symmetric

Which means you can upload and download at the same speed. This means you can perform data hungry tasks like transfer large files, working remotely and making VoIP calls.

Full support

Full support Receive 24/7 business phone support and speak to the provider of your line straight away. As the direct provider of your line they can resolve any problems quickly.

Service Level Agreement

When a leased line and backup service is taken, then it will provide a 100% SLA for the solution as a whole. Otherwise a 99.98% up time is provided. agrees to provide a solution whereby should one circuit fail, then the backup line will be activated immediately. Should the secondary (backup) circuit fail to engage within 1 clock hour, then additional service unavailability penalties will apply. In no event will SLA credits in any calendar month exceed 100% of the total MRCs payable by customer for the service in that month.

Download and upload

A leased line is an alternative medium to connect to the Internet and is also taken on rent from the service provider. However, it is an exclusive connection with an agreed bandwidth and provides identical upload and download speeds.

What are the advantages to having a leased line?

  • Symmetric

Which means you can upload and download at the same speed. This means you can perform data hungry tasks like transfer large files, working remotely and making VoIP calls.

  • Flexible connection

Your leased line can carry many forms of communication. It can be used for VPN access, phone calls and internet traffic all in one and how the bandwidth is allocated is up to you.

  • Fast

Leased lines come in range of speeds from 2Mbps up to 10Gbps. There are no ‘up to’ or ‘best’ speeds like you get with broadband, you will receive the full bandwidth allocation you pay for.

  • Reliable

Leased lines often come with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) as the providers can monitor and maintain the line themselves, to ensure a certain level of service.

  • Private and secure

As the connection is just for your use leased lines are ideal for companies that handle sensitive client information such those in the finance and professional services industry.

  • Full support

Receive 24/7 business phone support and speak to the provider of your line straight away. As the direct provider of your line they can resolve any problems quickly.

  • Unlimited usage

There is no fair usage policy; you can use as much data as you like.

Reliability

A major advantage of having a dedicated connection is the increased reliability. For many businesses, being left without an Internet connection for days could be disastrous. Dedicated Internet connections come with a service level agreement, which guarantees that any major connectivity issues will be fixed in as little as 5 hours. we personally guarantees 99.999% uptime along with 24/7 complimentary phone support.

High Performance

Because the line is reserved for your business alone, you have sole access to the bandwidth, with no contention from outside. This means that at during any point of the day, you will get 100% performance both upstream and down. This is good if you’re making or receiving phone calls over your connection, sending and downloading large files and video conferencing in HD.

Scalable and Flexible

Bandwidth speed is fully customisable and can be scaled from as little as 10Mbps through to 10Gbps, depending on your individual business requirements, meaning that you only pay for what you need. The symmetrical connectivity means that you get a consistent speed both ways, making for a more productive workforce that is also able to utilise cost-effective cloud services.

Security

Having a secure connection should be a priority for any business, and with a dedicated connection, your network is safer because it is solely used by you alone. The line runs directly from your premises to the  data center, resulting in no interference. This makes it easier to deploy security applications and authentication protocols, as the only users of it will reside on your premises.
